Add Captions to a Short-Form Youtube, TikTok, or Reel (Descript Tutorial)

Do you want to learn how to add captions to your videos like Codie Sanchez, Leila Hormozi, and Ali Abdaal?

Today, I'm going to show you the “absolute best captions tool” after trying many different ones.

This tool will allow you to do short-form captioned videos in the fastest and easiest way possible.

If you’re here, I assume that you’re a content creator at some level.

And as a creator myself, I know how difficult it can be to not have the finest tool for creating content.

Today, let me share with you the best tool that I have found for making short videos and adding captions.

It is called—Descript.

Why Descript is the Best Captioning Tool?

This tool is different from other captioning tools like InShot, CapCut, or Hiring an Editor.

InShot

I've used the InShot app in the past and the last time I used it, you will still have to type in every single word.

It means you're literally captioning your video manually which is a ton of work and a ton of time.

Thus, I would not really recommend this for creating captioned videos.

CapCut

Another free app where you can automatically generate your captions is—CapCut.

It’s so cool that it automatically generates the captions on the video.

However, you still have to go in and adjust the style, the font, the size, and the coloring every time you will edit a video and that can be a lot of time and work too.

Hire an Editor

The other thing that I've tried is hiring an editor.

This is really a good option if you have the money, but it still takes your time to find the editor, test the editor, hire the editor, and manage the editor.

And it's still a lot of work reviewing all the videos, then sending them back for revisions and things like that.

So for me after trying all of these different options, my absolute favorite option for captions is actually—Descript.

My Favorite Captions Tool: Descript

Descript is the only tool you need to create, record, transcribe, and publish your videos.

This tool packs in a ton of functionalities, such as audio recording, screen recording, video editing tools, and even some AI capabilities for producing text-to-speech.

I could not recommend this tool enough.

For me, Descript is so much useful for creating video presentations, as well as captioning my videos.

It is simple to access on a variety of devices and is available in web-based and desktop versions.

What I Love about Descript

It’s no secret that Descript uses AI which has new features that we have not seen before.

It is actually designed as an all-in-one tool that makes content creators' and editors’ life easier.

I’ve been using it personally, and it literally helps me save lots of time on editing and creating content.

I don’t even need to hire an editor to make my short-form captioned videos, thus it also helps me save money on an editor.

Here’s what I loved about Descript:

1. Easy to correct wrong spelling and edit wordings

Descript is so cool that you can actually edit out a wording and it actually edits out that part on the video.

Let's say you stumbled or fumbled or said “um”, you can just go ahead and edit that out of the script as well.

For misspelled words, you can literally just click and type in how you want to spell it and it will be changed on the caption.

2. It remembers your settings

This is my favorite part actually.

Once you adjust the font you want, the color you want, the size you want, and where you want the caption to go on your video, it remembers your settings!

So in every single video you do, it will automatically put those captions with your exact settings, the exact font, the exact size, and the exact color, which will save you tons of time.

You will not have to do it all over again for every video you will edit.

And that really cuts out the work for you.

3. Has overdub feature

With this feature, you can add words to your transcript that are simultaneously added to your recording.

Let’s say you forgot to say something, you can simply type in that word in the captions section.

It will then create a clone of your voice and insert a recording with just the words you type in.

How cool is that?

I find this feature really useful especially when you're trying to make a point on your short-form 60 seconds video.

Final Thoughts

Descript has been a huge huge time saver for me and I am really eager to share this tool with you.
